Applications are open for the 2024 EAC Youth Fellowship, a prestigious initiative aimed at engaging and empowering young individuals in regional integration and leadership within the East African Community (EAC). This fellowship seeks to foster the potential of youth and promote their active involvement in shaping the region’s future. It provides mentorship, capacity-building activities, and networking opportunities, nurturing the next generation of leaders committed to regional cooperation and development.
Collaborating Organizations:
Several reputable organizations have collaborated to design this fellowship, including MS TCDC through its Africa Youth Leadership Program (You Lead Africa), the East African Community Secretariat, the Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation, the Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC), and the Emerging Leaders Foundation.
Thematic Areas:
The fellowship will focus on two key thematic areas:
- Youth in Politics: Reinventing and solidifying youth leadership in public sector governance
- Youth in Business: Enhancing business opportunities and creating a “youth-friendly business environment,” including policies favorable to young entrepreneurs.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the EAC Youth Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age Requirement: Applicants should be between 18-35 years old
- Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of an East African Community Partner State and residents of one of the EAC partner states
- Educational Qualification: Minimum educational qualification of a bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated Capabilities: Applicants must demonstrate capabilities or understanding of regional integration, leadership, business, economic governance, or relevant fields
