The Irish Tech Challenge, a collaborative effort between the Embassy of Ireland in South Africa, the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), and the Technology Innovation Agency, in conjunction with implementing partners Tshimologong Digital Precinct at Wits University (South Africa) and Dogpatch Labs (Ireland), is back for 2024.
Building on past success, the 2024 iteration of the Irish Tech Challenge aims to propel the growth of South African tech startups aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Startups operating in clean and green technology, healthcare, education, and water sanitation and hygiene are especially encouraged to participate, as the challenge seeks to tackle urgent global issues while fostering economic development and job opportunities in South Africa.
Seven handpicked startups stand to gain significant benefits, including EUR10,000 (US$11,000) in grant funding each, an exclusive 10-day trip to Ireland for access to global customers and partners, top-notch business acceleration and technical expertise from Ireland’s tech ecosystem, and heightened visibility facilitated by support from the Irish and South African governments.
