Leading the Charge in Clean Energy
Arnergy, a Nigerian company known for its distributed renewable energy solutions, has raised $18 million to scale its solar energy systems across Africa.
The new funding round was led by All On, an energy impact investor backed by Shell. Other major contributors include Breakthrough Energy Ventures, founded by Bill Gates, as well as ElectriFI (Electrification Financing Initiative) and several new climate-focused investors.
A Mission to Power the Underserved
Founded in 2013 by Femi Adeyemo and Kunle Odebunmi, Arnergy provides reliable and affordable solar-plus-storage solutions. These systems target businesses and homes that struggle with poor access to electricity due to unreliable national grids.
“Our mission is to democratize energy access across Africa,” said Femi Adeyemo, CEO of Arnergy. “This investment will help us reach more communities, enhance our technology, and improve system performance.”
Scaling Up and Reaching More People
With this fresh injection of capital, Arnergy plans to:
- Expand its commercial and industrial (C&I) client base
- Grow its residential solar offerings
- Launch financial products to make solar more affordable for small businesses and communities
These efforts aim to bring clean and consistent energy to regions most affected by blackouts and energy shortages.
Addressing a Critical Need
The need for off-grid energy solutions in Africa is urgent. According to the International Energy Agency, over 600 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa still live without electricity.
“Arnergy’s customer-first approach and strong execution capabilities make them a key player in Africa’s clean energy future,” said Wiebe Boer, CEO of All On.
A Bright Future Ahead
As global investments in renewable energy reach new heights, Arnergy’s growth aligns with efforts to promote sustainable and inclusive development across emerging markets.
With this new funding, the company is set to power thousands more businesses, homes, and schools—lighting the path toward a greener future for Africa.
