A Strong Foundation for Nigeria’s Tech Talent Pipeline
As a founding partner, MTN Nigeria has played a pivotal role in the early stages of the 3MTT Programme, alongside key collaborators like the Pan-African United Foundation (PAUF) and Lagos Business School. Their support has facilitated structured implementation and rapid expansion across Nigeria.
Nationwide Impact: Over 90,000 Nigerians Trained
So far, MTN Nigeria’s contribution has helped train more than 90,000 Nigerians through two cohorts. Training sessions have been rolled out across 197 Partner Applied Learning Cluster (ALC) organizations spread nationwide, ensuring wide coverage and accessibility.
Breaking Barriers with Strategic Funding
- ₦1.45 billion has been disbursed for technical training.
- ₦1.5 billion allocated as data grants to provide internet access for learners.
- An extra ₦50 million was dedicated to Raspberry Pi kits for hands-on training.
These Raspberry Pi devices have already empowered 3,500 young innovators in secondary schools across Nigeria under the Ministry’s Buildathon initiative, encouraging practical problem-solving and collaboration.

With the global tech industry facing a talent crunch, Nigeria is taking a proactive step to meet this demand. The 3MTT Programme has already received over 1.8 million applications, and its pilot phase is concluding with plans for a full-scale rollout in the second quarter of the year.
The upcoming scale-up will include the launch of the Nigeria Talent Cities Initiative, aimed at creating outsourcing campuses and unlocking 500,000 new jobs by 2027.
