Shield Capital has successfully completed its first venture capital fund, raising a total of $186 million.

Shield Capital has completed the final closing of its first fund, which primarily concentrates on early-stage venture capital investments. This inaugural fund, known as Shield Capital Fund I, L.P., exceeded its target by 55%, securing a total of $186 million in capital commitments from a diverse group of institutional and private investors.

The Managing Partners, Philip Bilden and Raj Shah, established SHIELD in 2021 with the primary goal of assisting innovators in shaping the future in fields such as AI, autonomy, cybersecurity, and space. SHIELD focuses its investments on company founders who are pioneering cutting-edge technologies that have significance in both commercial and national security markets.

Raj Shah, the Managing Partner, emphasized that their firm places a strong emphasis on supporting founders. They go to great lengths to assist their startup companies, whether it’s helping them recruit executives, connect with government clients, or formulate strategies. The successful fundraising efforts will allow them to support more founders and offer even more substantial assistance to their existing portfolio.

SHIELD has already invested in over 30 innovative companies, including pioneers in various fields like high-resolution satellite technology (Albedo), satellite bus manufacturing (Apex), autonomous aerial logistics (Elroy Air), data infrastructure AI (Nexla), edge AI image sensing (Overwatch Imaging), and cyber insurance risk management (Resilience).
