Pangea Africa and Black Star Africa have announced the joint acquisition of a majority stake in Eden Tree, a producer and distributor of fresh, packaged fruits and vegetables in Ghana. 4. FMO commits $12.5m to Acumen agriculture fund
Dutch development finance institution FMO has committed $12.5 million to the Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund II (ARAF II). FMO joins returning investors – the Green Climate Fund and Proparco – alongside new backers Swedfund, the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO), and the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Africa. 5. Zambia: BioLite secures $10.7m from Africa Go Green fund
Africa Go Green, the climate-focused debt fund managed by Cygnum Capital, has provided a $10.7 million senior debt facility to BioLite to finance the purchase and distribution of over 160,000 improved cookstoves across Zambia. The carbon credits generated by the project will be sold to Switzerland’s KliK Foundation under a mitigation outcomes purchase agreement. Read the full article
