The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab App is marking its first anniversary after building a growing digital community connecting young people across Africa and Europe through learning, networking, and opportunities.

Created as a free digital platform for youth engagement, the app provides access to educational resources, professional development opportunities, peer connections, and spaces where young people can contribute to discussions shaping the future of AU-EU cooperation.

Over its first year, the platform has recorded significant growth, with more than 6,000 active users from 122 countries. The community has also contributed to the platform’s development, with 8,400 young people participating in co-creation and improvement activities.

The app has supported youth learning and skills development through its digital education features, with 1,417 learning courses completed and certificates awarded. In addition, the platform’s Opportunity Desk has shared 270 opportunities, helping young people discover programmes, initiatives, and resources for personal and professional growth.

Building a Digital Space for Youth Collaboration

The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab App was designed to create a more accessible and inclusive digital environment where young people can exchange ideas, develop skills, and participate in conversations related to Africa-Europe cooperation.

The platform’s development has been guided by continuous feedback from its users. Through 15 virtual demo sessions involving 335 young participants, the project team has gathered insights to improve the user experience and introduce new features based on community needs.

User feedback highlights the importance of digital platforms that combine education, networking, and access to opportunities.

One user, Ibukun-Seven, shared that the app’s features helped provide access to meaningful opportunities and encouraged continued learning through its progress and badge system.

Another user, Fayemiwo Olawale, highlighted the platform’s role in enabling participation in discussions and learning activities focused on multilateralism and prosperity across Africa and Europe.

Digital Platforms Supporting Africa’s Next Generation

The growth of the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab App reflects the increasing role of digital tools in supporting youth development, entrepreneurship, and collaboration across regions.

For Africa’s young population, digital platforms can provide new pathways to access education, build professional networks, and participate in economic and social development initiatives.

As technology continues to transform education and workforce development, platforms focused on youth engagement can help connect emerging talent with knowledge, opportunities, and international communities.

The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab App will continue expanding its learning content, networking opportunities, and community features, guided by the principle of building solutions with young people and for young people.

After its first year, the platform represents more than a digital application — it reflects a growing community focused on collaboration, skills development, and shared opportunities between Africa and Europe.
