    A few years ago, the idea of Franck Biya as Cameroon’s vice-president and constitutional successor to his father, President Paul Biya, would have seemed far-fetched. A businessman long based between Los Angeles, Johannesburg and Paris, the eldest son of Paul Biya and Jeanne-Irène Biya had never stood for office or shown any political ambitions.
