Since its early generations, the REDMI Note Series has built its reputation around a simple idea: premium products made accessible.

Rather than limiting flagship-level experiences to the highest price segments, REDMI Note has consistently brought notably advanced technologies, strong performance and premium-quality experiences to a much wider audience.

On Wednesday, the smartphone maker introduced the REDMI Note 17 Series into the Nigerian market. The leading selling point is its battery capacity, an unprecedented 10,000mAh paired with 100W fast charging.

This combination could be a significant breakthrough for Nigeria, a market defined by its power challenges. The battery capacity and charging convenience will give users the freedom to spend more time doing what they love and less time looking for a charger. Xiaomi is betting that for users who spend long hours on mobile data, video streaming, gaming, navigation and social media

Speaking at the launch, Country Manager, Xiaomi Nigeria, Mr Vandy explained that customer-centric features such as this remain the reason that the brand has become a trusted choice for more than 500 million global users, reflecting its growing presence and popularity across markets worldwide.

He reflected on the brand’s sustained progress in Nigeria and recognition milestones across major global rankings. Xiaomi reached its eighth consecutive year of recognition on the Fortune Global 500, ranking 297. It ranked 229 on the Forbes Global 2000 and 81st among Canter’s most valuable global brands.

He attributed the sustained growth to the introduction of REDMI Titan Quality and up to six years of security updates.

Also speaking on the nationwide rollout, CEO of Finet, Dr Fred Nnadike, assured that the company’s distribution network would help make the devices available to consumers across Nigeria. He also anticipates an accelerated adoption nationally. “The exceptional battery endurance and structural toughness directly address the demands of Nigerian smartphone users who require absolute reliability for work and everyday connectivity,” he said.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has a contemporary, minimalist design, in line with Xiaomi’s preference for modest hardware styling. From performance and display to photography, design, durability and battery technology, smartphones are raising expectations for what a smartphone in its segment can deliver.

    These include:

    • The Pro Max features a 10,000 mAh battery, 100W HyperCharge, up to three days of typical battery life, and up to 14 days in limited-use endurance scenarios.
    • All the models possess durability, including water and drop resistance, battery retention of up to 80% after 1,600 charge cycles, and certification covering water, drops, and battery performance. Another useful addition is Wet Touch 2.0, which makes the Redmi Note 17 series easier to operate when the screen gets wet.
    • The Pro model features an 8,340 mAh battery, two-meter water resistance, three-meter drop resistance, and similar after-sales support.
    • The series is great at playing video, with roughly 28 to 30 hours of continuous playback. Even in gaming settings, the efficiency is impressive, with demanding games draining just 9% to 11% of the battery each hour, enabling you to enjoy gaming for 8 to 10 hours before needing a recharge.
    • The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G comes with dual stereo speakers, a bottom-firing driver and an amplified top earpiece for an enhanced audio experience, further intensified by Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio.
    • The Pro Max combines a 6.83-inch AMOLED display, 3,500-nit brightness, enhanced audio, a camera system with portrait, night, selfie, dual-video, 4K, and AI editing features, and a Snapdragon 6s Generation 5 processor.
    • Xiaomi HyperAI adds productivity, translation, dynamic wallpaper, and creative features; the series also includes six months of Google One storage at no cost.

Ultimately, they all come with a six-year software experience warranty that includes a good-as-new device claim.
