Rockstar Games has released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, its final trailer before the game arrives on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The company shared the video on October 15 and says it features the debut of “Flower in a Hurricane,” a new track from GTA 6 score composers Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The song will appear on the official GTA 6 soundtrack album.
The music choice breaks with the previous GTA 6 trailers. The first trailer used Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road,” and the second used “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters. Both were licensed songs, while the launch trailer uses original music written for the game.
What the GTA 6 Launch Trailer Shows
The trailer focuses on the two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, more than earlier footage did. Jason appears with long hair for much of the video and talks about the obstacles he faced after leaving the military under less-than-glamorous circumstances. Lucia is shown wearing a monitoring anklet, and at one point she asks whether the two of them are going to be OK.
Helicopters play a large part in the action scenes:
- a helicopter crashes behind Jason while he carries an assault rifle
- Lucia rides in another helicopter through the city with a grenade launcher
- a third helicopter swings a chained load of cargo through a row of windows on a building
The trailer ends with Jason and Lucia jumping off a roof into a hotel pool.
Rockstar’s official video description sums up the story setup. Jason and Lucia have always known the odds are against them, and when an easy score goes wrong, they end up in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida, forced to rely on each other to survive.
The launch trailer passed 1 million views on YouTube in about half an hour. It was captured on PlayStation 5, and PlayStation branding appears at the start and end of the video.
GTA 6 Release Details and the Missing PC Version
Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Console players who want to watch the trailer can find it on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel, and the full version of “Flower in a Hurricane” is available there as well.
PC players have nothing to plan for yet. Rockstar has not announced a PC version of GTA 6 or given it a release date, and Microsoft has already said that the game will not be playable on PC through the cloud. PC players should not expect a launch day version on that platform.
Rockstar has not shared further trailers or a PC announcement alongside the launch trailer, and the November 19 date currently applies only to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
