Google has expanded its real-time conversational search feature, Search Live, to users worldwide, marking a major push into voice-first and multimodal AI experiences.
The rollout, now available in more than 200 countries and territories, allows users to interact with Search in real time using voice and camera, moving beyond traditional typed queries.
The expansion is powered by Google’s latest voice and audio model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, which is designed to deliver faster, more natural, and multilingual conversations.
This update lets you talk to Search, ask more questions, and use your camera to get answers about what you see. It’s in the Google app on Android and iOS. Tap the “Live” icon under the search bar to start.
Search Live is designed for situations where typing is difficult. It can help users with step-by-step instructions, quick explanations, or understanding things around them. Using voice input and a smartphone camera, the system understands real-world situations and responds immediately.
For example, users can point their phone’s camera at something, such as furniture they are putting together, and ask for instructions. The system will then use what it sees and what the user says to provide helpful answers and links to learn more.
