In the 1970s, British students were torn between Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Donald Kaberuka, who took a Master’s in development studies at the University of East Anglia in Norwich before a doctorate in economics at the University of Glasgow, would rather hum ‘Waterloo’ or ‘Money, Money, Money’ by Abba. Unlike the purists of hard rock and psychedelic rock, the Rwandan refugee who fled the persecutions of 1959 preferred the blend of styles conjured up by the Swedish group.
