Chowdeck has achieved a remarkable milestone by delivering over 100 million items through more than 30 million deliveries, just as the Nigerian startup approaches its fifth anniversary.
Femi Aluko, the co-founder and CEO, shared this exciting news in a post on X, where he noted that an impressive 80% of these deliveries happened in the last 20 months.
This rapid growth demonstrates how quickly the company is evolving since its launch in October 2021, expanding from just restaurant meals to now offering groceries and other daily essentials.

In his heartfelt message, Aluko expressed gratitude to customers, riders, vendors, employees, and partners for their contributions to the company’s success. He referred to the past week as a “week of multiple wins,” highlighting the collective efforts that led to this achievement. “It’s still Day 1,” he added, signaling that Chowdeck is only getting started and has big plans for the future.
Groceries become a bigger part of Chowdeck’s business
The company recently hit an impressive milestone, building on significant achievements from earlier this year. In July, the company’s founder, Femi Aluko, revealed that Chowdeck successfully delivered more than ₦1.5 billion worth of groceries in June alone. This surge in grocery sales accounted for 11% of the company’s entire business, showing just how impactful this segment has become.
Initially, Aluko considered the grocery venture a “small bet,” but it has quickly transformed Chowdeck’s offerings, moving beyond just prepared meals into the rapidly growing field of quick commerce. This sector is dedicated to delivering groceries and everyday essentials, tapping into a market that values convenience.
However, this expansion hasn’t come without its challenges. Aluko has acknowledged some operational hurdles, particularly issues with out-of-stock items and delays in delivery times. The logistics of grocery delivery differ significantly from those of restaurant orders, requiring the company to adapt its processes accordingly.

To support this growth, Chowdeck has made substantial investments in its infrastructure. In August 2025, the company raised $9 million in a Series A funding round, led by Novastar Ventures and Y Combinator. This funding is set to help Chowdeck enhance its grocery operations further.
Founded by Femi Aluko, Lanre Yusuf, and Olumide Ojo, Chowdeck has evolved into a popular delivery platform catering to customers in Nigeria and Ghana. Through its app, the company connects users with restaurants, grocery vendors, and various merchants, making it easier for people to access what they need.

A notable achievement for Chowdeck is crossing the milestone of 100 million items delivered, a testament to its rapid growth. Interestingly, a remarkable four-fifths of these deliveries occurred in just 20 months, illustrating the speed at which the company has expanded.

As Chowdeck enters its fifth year, its primary challenge now lies in maintaining this impressive momentum while ensuring reliable deliveries across the diverse range of products available to customers. The journey ahead is promising, and it will be fascinating to see how Chowdeck continues to adapt and thrive in the dynamic delivery landscape.
